STEM Fest at Temple Heights is on Wednesday, May 20. This event will take place in the MPR from 10:00 to 2:00. Students will have an opportunity to display their projects for students and parents. So get busy with your project and make sure you can explain the science behind it.
Teacher/Student Softball Game
Calling all fifth graders! Get ready to play the teachers in the annual Teacher/Student Softball Game. This year's game will be played on June 2nd at 1:00. Practice your throwing, catching, and batting because this year could be the year that the fifth graders win! Not everybody needs to play. We will need some of you to cheer your classmates on. So, make a poster, practice a cheer, or help a friend get ready for the game. Don't delay! You only have about a month before the big game.
Our graduation ceremony will be on... June 3, 2015 at 8:15 am! Our last day is still on June 4th. If we have our ceremony on the last day of school, then we will be interfering with middle school and high school graduations. On June 4th, we will be having a class picnic. We are also learning a graduation song, so if you want to study/listen more, then click the link below.
The Strawberry run is coming soon. All students need to register by March 31 to be eligible for the $10.00 discount. Don't forget to indicate your shirt size on the entry form. The cost is ten dollars for all VUSD students. The race will be held on Sunday, May 24.
5th Grade Field Day
Field Day is coming up on Thursday, May 28. Make sure you get your t-shirt order in as soon as possible. Mr. Doyle needs to know your size before ordering. Bring the $6.00 in when you can, but don't wait to turn in the order form. We will need parent volunteers to help us run the competition. Let Mr. Doyle know if you are available to help out.
All fifth grade classes will participate in an end-of-the-year barbeque on the last day of school, June 4, 2015. We will also be signing yearbooks and having a checkers tournament on this day. So, bring a checkers game from home if you have one and come to school ready to celebrate an awesome year. We will need parent helpers on this day as well. Contact Mr. Doyle if you would like to volunteer.

Mrs. Nunez will be hosting a Valentine's card exchange on February 12. She will be bringing in specially designed envelopes for all of our students. If you would like to participate, please bring a card for everyone. We currently have 30 students in our class, but it is always a good idea to bring a few extra. Be creative and make your own cards or buy some from the store. Remember, they don't have to be fancy. It's the thought that counts.
The Valentine dance will be held in the MPR on Thursday, February 12 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. "Sweet Treats" and beverages will be available for purchase. All items will be sold for $1.00. Students should RSVP as soon as possible to secure their entrance into the dance. Space is limited.
We have all been training hard for our Strawberry Run event. However, all training and no racing can get a little boring. So, we have decided to enter the Marathon Mile race at Legoland. Please ask your parents for permission to attend. The race will take place on January 17, 2015. This is a Saturday, so your parents will probably have to take you to Legoland for the event. There is a possibility that we will be able to meet at school and take a bus together if enough people sign up. Discuss this with your parents and be ready to share your decision in class. Click the link for more information about the race.
We will be having a hot chocolate bar in our class on December 19 after lunch. Mrs. Nunez, one of our parent volunteers, will stop by and set it up for us. Come enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and a cookie. We will also play holiday songs on our flutophones and go caroling with the third graders. Wear red and be ready to have a great time! Diego
Parent Conference Week is over. Thank you for coming to school and supporting our class. As always, please contact me if you have further questions about your child's progress. I can schedule a meeting at your convenience either before or after school.
